Here is a long thread on keeping moss as a houseplant that I pulled off my twitter, wrapped up as a blog post - so now you can read about practical moss gardening without having to visit that website :>

@abundance @bgcarlisle oh neat! Thank you for sharing this.

@sophia moss gardening!! ↑↑

@abundance i tried doing so when i was a teenager but it didnt really work well because south of france might be too dry. I need to findcool containers to try again this is gorgeous !

@abundance do you think a mason jar on the side would work or its too shallow ?

@ragekit i have a few planted that way! seems to work great. they are sort of raked at an angle towards the back

@abundance i tried something but the mason jar is a bit too thick to see clearly. Ill relocate it when i find a better jug.

@abundance this is so great! I used to grow moss when I was about 13 or 14, I'm going to follow your instructions and relive my childhood

@jer oh my gosh this is a really sweet story, thank you

This is really lovely, thanks Everest! I'm going to gather some moss soon and do this

@dualhammers i got started with moss last year because its easy to travel with! no broken boughs when moving :) maybe that's useful to your lifestyle too

@abundance It is! Going to gather some moss friends to carry with me

@abundance I find myself wondering now if I could manage a similar trick for lichen. (Because some varieties are actually used in dyeing textile fibers...)

@OldBrushNewPaper i've never tried lichen but please let me know if you do! i'd be very curious as to what you find

@abundance This is a great Idea! would remind me too much of work though XD

@abundance This is awesome! I tried moss gardening a few years ago and failed because of the lack of knowledge and a severe sickness I had. But for a little time I could enjoy it though. Thanks for sharing. Maybe I start again someday.

@abundance here in the #pnw I have pockets of my backyard that grow very mossy... cultivating moss is very satisfying. 🌱

Very nice idea! I think I'll try this out myself. Thx for posting this tutorial.
