so much "learning" is just getting familiarity; if you're patient and you swim around something for long enough, you can pick it up

@am That is sad. But I suppose it is only a matter of time before this happened. Can't get an instance to shut down, go after the software or hardware they rely upon to exist. The mobile market is big, I think that is probably what most people use to access social media... lock the fediverse out of it and it suddenly loses a lot of appeal and audience.

I don't want to be obtuse here; of course you should have resources, provide people with ways to learn processes, etc. etc. It is just strange, in my opinion, to argue against ever, ever picking up better habits, picking up skills...

shipped so I’ve spent all morning researching adequate environments: should be configured to the hardware, lean on resources. I don’t mind learning stuff to make it work. And I trust older projects, they’re Lindy. So. Idk. Would do but the WiFi support hanging the system makes it seem risky.

slapping that bsd kernel into a ps2 to get the job done is so fucking cool. It's like the polar opposite of having my computer give me a pillow and a hug and removing all the knives from my house and shilling me Online Account Integration

I caught the fascination with scarcity mindset computing — I want to know what I can do if I'm forced to use very limited hardware

(I may just start using the tag more often — I see it as like "Linux Foundation people probably use their tag too but not everyone wants to hear, so you can just mute it.")

For a while this was like my only political opinion lol, but it generally connotes well with Aristotelian virtue ethics, as well as with my own natural lifestyle

I have articulated that I want a way of life centred around "working groups" or communities dedicated to executing a project, living in monastic dedicating to the shared project — I am realising now that I basically need to subscribe to more mailing lists
