i agree with the guideline of minimizing personal promotion posts on the timeline. simultaneously, we all have to live—and we have differing platforms for enabling that.
maybe we could have a community document, listing the existing patreons/crowdfunding things for each denizen of the town? a kind of act of community financial solidarity, or at least a small step in that direction.
any thoughts?

@cblgh my suggestion would be to require use of a mastodon content warning and/or specific hashtag i.e #selfpromotion; then its opt-in to view it and easily filtered.

Also, Merveilles is not adverse to self promotion, like, if you wanna share your Patreon or Kofi or watever, you should.
The guideline is is to protect against repeated promotion of products, since in the past we had a few instances where someone's account was solely devoted as selling prints, which was not in the spirit of the place at all.

I know that I put print / Patreon links below my art posts on the birdsite, but keep them off here because I know that if y'all were interested, you'd go to my profile.
That said, it's nice to know I can sometimes draw attention to my Patreon without it being a problem! 😂😬

@cblgh This idea is perfect, actually! If we had a list of the Patreons or other funding sources for people, it would be real easy to help redirect some Merveilles funds to those folks too. That is, if people here are alright with using Merveilles funds like that :3

that said i don't mind at all if people post about projects (paid or not) they've recently finished and i'd prefer resolving individual overkill promo cases over new hard rules.
