Software Doldrums
by Rek and Devine of Hundred Rabbits.

This talk, which was featured as a keynote at LibrePlanet 2022, is about the dangers and shortcomings of relying on always-online proprietary platforms. Hundred Rabbits will share how they reimagined their software to encourage the reuse, repair and maintenance of existing hardware.

We spoke with the FSF, and we found an arrangement so we could have access to a somewhat reliable internet connection for the event, and so we'll be happy to give a keynote at the upcoming LibrePlanet, March 19 and 20!

@cblgh where should we report bugs for the forum? Don't want to get annoying in case there's a list somewhere already.

@protodrew thanks for the recommendation on Space 1.8 / Nala Sinephro. Excellent album!

@oppen any plans to make a non-mobile Seren? I'd love to run this on OpenBSD.

I wonder if you could make a nice little rotary dial to speed up, slow down, and skip back. It's terribly amusing to see people objecting like "some material requires time to consider!" as if a speaker can have perfect control over when I need to spend that time consideration.

or, you know, you could just give me written material and I'd already have perfect control over exactly this..

Once upon a time Adobe Illustrator was just 240KB. I have the current 2022 version, it's now 1,840,000KB.

Finally, a new desk situation at home (workstation for two). The frame was salvaged from a NASA office outside Houston, some elements powdercoated, others polished, and the top was commissioned in quarter sawn ribbon sapele from a local woodshop. This worked out.

Folks who need avatars, get a commission out to @pamela - she made my whole team at work kickass artsy headshot renderings, and took the time to do it right!

Revel in the marvels of the universe. We are a collective of forward-thinking individuals who strive to better ourselves and our surroundings through constant creation. We express ourselves through music, art, games, and writing. We also put great value in play. A warm welcome to any like-minded people who feel these ideals resonate with them.
