I rewrote the woodslist rust parser ( https://github.com/makoConstruct/termpose/blob/master/woodslist.md ) to be safer (zero unsafes now) and simpler, in preparation for using it for receiving potentially untrusted communications in a tasteweb prototype.
I was able to get rid of the thing where it backs out then call into an opaque function pointer for every character. Bafflingly, didn't speed it up. I guess the performance bottleneck is probably memory allocation so if I want to make it faster I'll have to do arena stuff?
