Importantly, I also renamed some scripts to be more consistent and hopefully descriptive. That might be one of the hardest parts for me; it's hard to come up with good, consistent, descriptive names!

And that's another day of ffmpeg shennanigans done! Today I got a good example of window capture somewhat complete, which will be a core building block for a full streaming setup!

phew, that took a bit more work than the last script, but there's now an example which modifies a text filter to reflect the mic levels in my ffmpeg-stream-tools repo!

this is obviously useful for more than just modifying text, and the next script will build off of this to make a simple png-tuber setup!

omg finally got ffmpeg working with zmq to update filters on the fly! :D

I also made a hardcoded version which syncs images resized to a width of 512 much faster than the full version! This is probably what I'll be actually using for the most part, bc 512 is a pretty decent size for most of what I do, and is still almost fast enough to feel effectively instant.

wow, that was... a lot.
I've been wanting to build a good way of quickly syncing photos between my laptop and my phone (an iphone), and I finally got something working with ios shortcuts! long story short, you need a server with ssh set up and a few programs installed on it. You can get the shortcut here:
icloud.com/shortcuts/18c52dd5e

I also made a less complicated version which is much faster, here:
icloud.com/shortcuts/e811f91a3

and the small version is so fast! like, probably faster than bluetooth or airdrop if you've got an alias to pull the file from your server!

my alias is `rsync -vazh $user@[$ip]:/home/$user/pic.jpg ~/ && feh pic.jpg` btw :3

but that smaller version just sorta works. you still need a server with ssh and base64 installed, but if you open the shortcut it should be decently simple to set up? the config for it is mostly in the "Run script over SSH section", where you need to fill in the ip, port, user, and authentication method (it supports keys!)

it doesn't explain how to set itself up, which I should probably change, but for now I just wanted it finished :P (I'll also write a short thing about how it works later, which I'll link here)

it uses some interesting (and pretty jank) workarounds for the shortcut app's stupidness, which are honestly hilarious

I’ve been listening to Polyphia’s new track “playing god” for the past week, and holy shit is it amazing :D

Here’s a crazy video of the main guitarist, Tim Henson, playing it acoustically youtube.com/watch?v=DSBBEDAGOT

Phew, my laptop now has some lovely new thermal paste! It took a couple hours, but hopefully my laptop should now be able to dissapate the sometimes alarming amounts of heat generated by the cpu! ':)

oof, my poor laptop's going to be running at 96% cpu and 90C for a couple hours transcoding some video :(

bleh, I just spent the past two hours trying to get ffmpeg to play nice with virtual cameras with little success :T

I ended up getting streaming a video file to the virtual camera working, but not streaming from an actual camera to ffmpeg, through a complex filter, and then out to the virtual webcam, which was my goal.

I was sorta able to by running ffplay with the filter and then grabbing the window with ffmpeg and streaming to v4l2, but the video was mostly green noise?

idk :|

Huh, I don't remember Caves of Qud looking quite like this... :P
