I did it! Finally made a full video showing how I make isometric mini worlds in out of Creative Commons photos and images.

This world has a Japanese tea garden theme, and I ran the screen recorder while I made it, then added commentary of the process.

I'm looking for feedback on which techniques used people would most like dedicated step by step tutorials on, so please share your thoughts.

📈 A total of €611k has been donated through Liberapay this year. That's twice as much as in 2020. 🙂

It arrived! The microphone most recommended by the Talon Voice community for long voice coding sessions.

This is the year I get back in the coding game.

I'm curious, how many of you all would consider yourself / identify as neurodivergent vs. neurotypical?

Context: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurod

An absolutely wonderful read I think many of you would get something out of:

Our brains literally evolved to NOT pay attention to boring stuff

We are forced to do boring things because that keeps other folks wealthy

The reason why you want to do hobbies all day is that you were supposed to be an artisan

Artisans were once seen to be the clearest sign of civilisation, not a burden

We have enough food now that all humanity could master the lyre

But we have chosen coin

and coin does not sing

And this purple leaf one now looks more like a weed plant. Cool to see how different they can be when left to their own devices.

Here's our, "kick some dirt over the supermarket offcuts" lettuce garden a few months later, all still going strong:

A couple of people asked me how I got my setup to look black and orange so I made this video to show both:

1. A quick easy way to get this colour scheme
2. How to dig deeper into customisation with a Krita plus Plasma combo

Holy balls is getting good! Now has transitions between clips on the same track, a huge time saver. Also has both slip and ripple edit tools, also an enormous time saver.

It's really closing the gap vs other NLEs now. I think it's going to become to video editing what Krita is to digital art and Blender is to 3D.

By request, here's a video on the new timelapse recording feature in :

Video is made entirely in .

Btw, I'll be working on getting PeerTube alternative links in the near future.

PSA for Linux video editors: Use the AppImage for not the PPA.

I had this awesome editing experience yesterday with the latest kdenlive and was delighted with my results.

Then I rendered and half the video turned out just black with audio. I did some troubleshooting, then 90% off the video came out black. Couldn't fix it. Went to bed disappointed.

Woke up, thought to try the AppImage, rendered out first time.

OMFG I just discovered the Time Remap function in and its sensational!

A few years ago when I was maining Kdenlive for work, retiming clips was difficult & buggy, and one of the reasons I had to go back to a proprietary NLE.

Now this Time Remap function is *better* than the ones in those NLEs. Hyped!

5 came out yesterday so I decided to run a screen recorder while I tried out the new features.

There's a great big stack of additions but it turned out there were five in particular that really stood out to me and I'm super excited about.

I absolutely love this software. What an amazing gift that's open to everyone to foster creativity.

I'm working on a theme design for my FOSS creative tutorial site, and today I used the wonderful @penpot to knock out a quick CSS shadow for my images.

Here's how that process went:

I've been quiet lately because I decided to shut up and make stuff.

Working on a few things at once, and making videos of what I'm doing as I go along, two to post (hopefully) tonight.

So what we appear to have is…

• a crypto company with a questionable claim to have addressed the ecological consequences of the technology

• entering a partnership that would help secure that currency by undermining its claim to decentralization

• and designed to radically increase the number of transactions made in that currency

• while simultaneously concealing those transactions from the people initiating them

• and a whole bunch of obfuscation.

Not exactly reassuring.

where did you move? and do you think it was a good decision/did it positively impact your life? or not?

i'm considering leaving myself so if people are willing to share their stories i'd be happy to hear them

Spider, but really cool actually

And here she is waking about. It looks like she was going to drag something, maybe some bark, back to her house but decided to drop it on the way. 3/3

Revel in the marvels of the universe. We are a collective of forward-thinking individuals who strive to better ourselves and our surroundings through constant creation. We express ourselves through music, art, games, and writing. We also put great value in play. A warm welcome to any like-minded people who feel these ideals resonate with them.
