I've recently thought to myself: what if I just make weird beats/music in Audacity? Like, it's what I use to edit podcasts. I'm really good with it. Why fight with music software when I can embrace the horrible constraints of Audacity? I like that there's no concept of constant tempo since I'm hand-stitching samples, and I can't really undo stuff so I'm forced to commit.
