2021-09-23: Narwhal tusks were mistaken for unicorn horns in the medieval times. Because of unicorns’ attributed antidote properties people liked to make those fake horns into drinking containers, and many pharmacies are still called "unicorn pharmacy" today.

Found this in the very good book I’m reading currently: “Why We Sleep” by Matthew Walker. Lots of current sleep science put together in an understandable way.

2021-09-22: One form of narcolepsy is caused by chronic underproduction of a neurotransmitter, that signals the brain to de-/activate the sleep paralysis in REM sleep. Due to this underproduction the body doesn’t have clear on/off signals, and reacts to a floating signal, often times inappropriately.

2021-09-20: The Periodic table was invented by a sleeping brain. Mendeleev worked on a way to organise the elements restlessly for days, and then after he gave up and went to sleep, he dreamt of it. He wrote it down as soon as he woke up, and only had to change it at one position afterwards to make it fit.

personal Life is Strange 2 rant

Life is Strange 2 sucks. Either decisions seem to have no impact at all, or they are so subtle that they almost seem accidental.
It feels like the outcome is pretty fix, and all you can change is how you go about it. In which case, why even bother?

Life is Strange 2 spoiler (Ep. 1)

The moment Sean turns the phone on to read incoming messages before throwing it away induced *a lot* of anxiety for me. Like, if I had known that beforehand, I might as well have called Lyla. Would’ve made no difference.

I started playing Life is Strange 2 last weekend and found it to be a good reminder that even if the worl around us is falling apart, it’s important to slow down, unwind and rest. To sit down and draw, or just enjoy the scenery, or music. That even while running away, it’s important to take the time to play games in between, or learn about new things.
