Dreamy cover of The Smashing Pumpkins Tonight Tonight by Munya
Why can't all these open source DAWs have a bit more fun with it? It all seems so homogeneous and boring. And you end up with homogeneous and stale music.
Make up some new conventions. Add a gaming aspect. Give it a face. Maybe you make so it's like being a gardener, but for sound? Add in a physics engine! The possibilities are endless.
I don't know how many others here are music theory nerds but I heard something really apt today.
"Music theory should be thought of as a descriptive discipline and not a prescriptive discipline"
I think this really answers the "music theory is going to make me less creative" thing, because it says that you shouldn't be writing with theory in mind and instead should use your theory knowledge to explain what you've written and aid in furthering your understanding of what you like and what works.
Lieu release day 👁️
This release is adding three new search features to https://lieu.cblgh.org:
i. searching the wider web through the eyes of the webring
ii. a filter for restricting search results to that of a particular webring domain
iii. enabling webring members with static sites to use lieu as their own personal search engine
I decided that I will be polishing up and releasing a track from my backlog every day this month (November 2021).
I don't really have a hard time coming up with new idea but I do have a problem with finishing things so this month is my challenge to help myself grow and be able to let go of imperfection and make quicker musical decisions.
I won't post a new post every single day, so instead i will reply to this thread.
here's the video.
Mine was a bit simpler though.
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 clove garlic chopped
- 1 can chick peas drained
- 1 Tbsp Tomato paste (the strong stuff from the sachets not the canned puree)
- 2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tsp medium curry powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp each salt, pepper, and turmeric
Fry the onions & garlic till soft, add spices and cook till fragrant.
Add the tomato paste and cook for a bit then add the chick peas + some water and simmer
Made chana masala roughly inspired by Adam Ragusea's video with some tweaks based on what I had in the kitchen. Along with some quick cucumber and vinegar Salsa type thing. It was pretty great.
Bonus points if the torrent could be small enough to fit in a qr code or pasteable link
Thanks for the replies everyone. Seems like its a necessity at this point. I will probably make a profile as a public cv type deal.
Why is semding a file still such a complicated task in 2021?
Use a file sharing site like wetransfer?
Use a cloud storgae site like dropbox?
Email? Oh wait its too big.
Guess Ill just text it to myself from the desktop client of my IM service then forward that to my friend and hope it doesnt get destroyed by compression.
I wish all OSs just had a "send" option that would make a torrent file available and would instantly start the download once the receiever got the file.
@cancel @rozina Lovely piece of extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/clickbait-remover-for-youtube/
What's the opinion around here on #linkedin?
I've been advised to make a linkedin profile. I'm just not sure whether it will really help if i don't post anything or use it other than make a dead looking profile. Though I've heard from a few people that recruiters tend to use that even before a CV/resume nowadays.
