From Ursula K. Le Guin:

“For we each of us deserve everything, every luxury that was ever piled in the tombs of the dead kings, and we each of us deserve nothing, not a mouthful of bread in hunger. Have we not eaten while another starved? Will you punish us for that? Will you reward us for the virtue of starving while others ate? No man earns punishment, no man earns reward. Free your mind of the idea of deserving, the idea of earning, and you will begin to be able to think.”

@knights I think I need to chew on that one for a while..

@irimi1 @knights I have and the more I chew, the more it makes rational and emotional sense.

@knights I loved reading The Dispossessed. It is so good. Just amazing.

@knights @meganeko love this. Another favorite quote;

“Nothing is yours. It is to use. It is to share. If you will not share it, you cannot use it.”

@nebuchi @knights @meganeko where can I read his thoughts on this, is it from Ecology of Freedom? Have only just started Reading post scarcity anarchism

@maiathecyberwitch @knights @meganeko i'm slightly embarrassed to admit i dont know. i've a podcast called 'srsly wrong' that had a detailed description of bookchin's usufruct concept, and i think the great graeber mentioned it too in 'debt' (although i am unsure of it). sorry, i wish i could be of greater help to you 🙏🏼

@nebuchi @knights @meganeko and No worries, I’ll figure it out, Thanks for putting the voncept in my Way ✨

@nebuchi @maiathecyberwitch @knights @meganeko ha, I just learned this word this weekend on a camping trip. My friend said, "Usufruct" as he grabbed an open camp chair. We said, "what's that?" "the freedom to use something if you don't destroy it" he picked up the chair and it fell apart.

@kazarnowicz @knights They're quotes by ursula leguin, but not from a book. But if you want a read her work on such topics, the dispossessed is a good exploration.

@knights people starving isn't a thing that just happens, it has been inflicted on them intentionally by the bourgeoisie for their own benefit. The bourgeoisie absolutely deserve punishment for the suffering they've inflicted on others. So do Nazis, transphobes, anti-abortion activists, and plenty of other evil soulless assholes.

Revel in the marvels of the universe. We are a collective of forward-thinking individuals who strive to better ourselves and our surroundings through constant creation. We express ourselves through music, art, games, and writing. We also put great value in play. A warm welcome to any like-minded people who feel these ideals resonate with them.
