A lot of people don't want to see #political discourse on Mastodon. I don't mind it, but I do want it to be oriented toward the practical rather than the performative. #twitter rewards amplification, which turns political discourse turns into a competition over who can mast impress upon others just how urgent things are, until that practically drowns our efforts to organize for change. And we carry those habits with us everywhere if we're not mindful.
@lrhodes I started to twitter-rage-post today, but then deleted when I realized it was very much an empty-birdsite-scream. I appreciate that fediverse folx are trying to be more thoughtful, and will continue to try to take a more thoughtful approach myself.
