Brilliant project that tidies up public domain ebooks.

Gutenberg and Internet Archive are wonderful resources, but the texts are poorly formatted for actual use, especially on ereaders.

This is a volunteer driven initiative to bring these texts up to date with modern standards and make them look as good as possible on the page.

I have no proper notebook style. Everything comes out as complete thoughts, or doesn't come out at all. It makes journaling really difficult. Need to figure out an approach that's more fluid, more amenable to half-thoughts.

my brain: you have got to stop taking on new projects if you want the projects you're already working on to live up to their full potential

also my brain: you know what would be cool, though?

Finally bothered to look up how filters work on by RSS reader, so now I'm trying to remember all of the feeds I passed up because they were half full of garbage I didn't care to read.

this is 100% the face that every dog makes when you shout "WHAT DO YOU HAVE?? DROP IT!!"

Anyone aware of FOSS/libre-based software for setting up a search engine?

*Search*, mind you; *not* metasearch.

Know anyone who would like to join #WritingExchange? While public registrations need admin approval, anyone here can invite someone by generating a special invite link from this page:

We're keeping our 1,000-user limit, but we just freed up about 50 spots after clearing out old, unused accounts. So feel free to invite anyone you think would like it here!

Okay, the site's back up in full, plus some. And now the entire thing is static.

If you're subscribed to any of my feeds, you'll need to update your subscriptions: lrhodes.net/syndication/

Thanks for bearing with the change. The old feeds never validated properly, and setting them up properly on my new CMS required a url change.

When you hire a steam cleaner, there's a little ritual at the end: the cleaners call you into the room and solemnly present a bucket of dirty water for your approval. "Look," they will say, "all this came out of your sofa." You're expected to nod in agreement, and then you get the bill. Above a certain price point, theater is tangled up in everything.

Still have a few things to fix, and a couple of other things I'd like to add, but I think I'm almost ready to relaunch the site.

Not, like, tonight ready, but sometime this weekend.

Probably

This is going to come to some of you as a grave shock, but my webdev process is not particularly well organized.

😂 Just realized that I've already started migrating my site live.

Guess I'll have to get the new version ported over.

I wonder how compact I could make that. If I could fit everything I'd need into a small suitcase or makeup case, I could probably carve out enough storage space to keep it around.
