Project build log thread

This is a thread to log work I'm doing over the next couple of weeks to build a Raspberry Pi based device that is optimized for running music software like Orca. It's reason for existing is to be a simple and reproducible home-brew project that can be used with lots of software, and which adds some new physical control options.

I'm working on a free CC-BY sample library based on TR-808 sounds put through various effects and distortions. here's what I have so far:

- hardware tube distortion
- analog cmos distortion
- schmidt trigger distortion (sort of like amplitude modulation)
- envelope follower - various analog oscillators (zaps)
- bad quality mp3
- GoTo Meeting audio
- Zoom call audio
- Casio SK-1 sampling
- Virtual ANS spectral synthesizer (resynthesizes the sounds using only sine waves)
- Cassette tape
- Microcassette tape
- Spring reverb + tube distortion

What other weird distortions/effects would be cool? I'll be releasing these sounds for free on archive.org when I'm done

~boosts appreciated~

Taking care of my website today, adding the new things I've been busy with lately, updating my now, listening and watching pages, and making sure my hardware and software pages reflect my current setup changes 🌿
