Pinned toot

Formal Introduction:

Hello! I'm m, a programmer and amateur musician/linguist. I'm hoping to diversify my skills as time goes on.

I like creating things, mostly digital things. I currently run Forida, an instance of @neauoire 's beautiful Oscean framework, along with Horaire. I'm hoping to develop some additional time tracking stuff around Horaire soon, so stay tuned!

- Use as few deps as possible.
- Use the base language and its built in tooling. (If it doesn't ship with solid tooling maybe look for a new language)
- If you use a dep make sure it is heavily used and by the influential people in the language, this will make sure it exists forever.

also, because I sort missed it:
あけましておめでとうございます。

i got sorta kinda super sick, and then life got in the way, but now _hopefully_ i've got the time and space to actually facilitate most of my ideas

great way to spend time when you wake up after trying to sleep off nausea

Work on shinka, now with categories and a basic time parsing system. next step will be an accurate representation of time spent (somehow)!

I think I've managed to get my stride with sodatsu. Still extremely simple, and shinka still needs to be developed alongside it, but it feels much more functional and flexible now, which is encouraging.

the initial version (i.e. placeholder) for sodatsu is up, with the basic level of javascript required for the site to run. right now, it's literally just a home and an about page, but more will be added.

it's moments like these that I realize I'm somewhat bad at the "do it now fix it later" mentality because I tend to radically overthink things to the point they don't get done.

but again, perhaps I'm overthinking this

the big struggle is that both of these approaches seem to forsee and adapt to changing circumstances, while I feel my approach is largely just "slap markdown in a JS array in a glorified key-value store and hope it just stays together"

like, for instance, the best way to represent content - what's the gold standard? Oscean uses indental w/ runic, which is beautiful and has a lot of subtle nuances and customizability that I sincerely desire. part of me feels like it re-treads ground to just wholesale use indental/runic, though.

@ckipp 's gyul uses a javascript object, which is the same approach I'm currently taking, although extremely simplified.

Work on sodatsu started, although I've definitely had a few problems already with trying to future proof my design. perhaps I'm thinking about this too hard?

huh, if you type this in my site's search bar, it'll change the background color of the logo since the interpreter that runs in the terminal is the same that builds the site:

~repl (dom:set-attr (dom:select "logo") "style" "background-color:red")
