One of the things that I love about functional programming is that it is easy (and encouraged!) to break a problem down into smaller, independent pieces.

Whenever I start feeling overwhelmed by a task I try to identify a piece of the task that I can extract into its own function.

I can then implement the function, write some tests, and come away with one more piece of the puzzle completed.
