Now, I'll build a way to lock the jars in place, and fix that whole thing under the sinks.
@neauoire Behave yourself or Devine will put you on the pickling shelf in the dark space. ~ Traditional German folklore (probably)
Hint: if you need triangular pieces of good wood look for the corners of vegetables wood crates.
Here are some pieces of beech I used as separators for a bottle carrier.
@GustavinoBevilacqua ah yes, I just used whatever scraps I could find, I didn't have vege crates, but I'll keep an eye out :)
@neauoire going to need to get some larger jars so you can take advantage of harvest prices and so you can ferment less frequently.
Unless of course iteration cadence is a pro.
@neauoire thats really good to hear. My fridge is full of bread&butter pickles ATM.
Pretty soon we'll be digging out the giant caning pressure cooker. We're going to have several rounds of tomatoes this year.
Uhm… a piece of inflated inner tube over the lid would avoid hard bangs in case of capsizing, acting as a damper.
@GustavinoBevilacqua I was thinking about building two doors to keep them from falling off. I'll do some tests today.
The sides seem a bit too thin for normal screws: better to mount the hinges with nuts&bolts.
I'll follow the evolution 👍
@neauoire how about a tantalus for pickles and jam? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tantalus_(cabinet)
@elbosso It's not something we'll be carrying around, it'll be bolted to the backside of the icebox.
@neauoire yeah, but your pic looked tasty - that made me think it would be a good idea to restrict access to jams and other tasty treats for me, so i just blurted out the idea to you - as you inspired me ...
