Pinned toot

Hello there! I'm really excited to be a part of this instance!

I like to write code and make art.

I have struggled with my online identity for years, and have decided to go with an identity that is simply the lack of an identity, hence no self, or nullself.

I am working on a website to share things I've created and written, which I will share as soon as it's done.

I completely rebuilt my wiki site. It now doesn't require a build system and is entirely flat file.

It uses @neauoire's indental to read the database file, and uses a custom template engine I wrote called Lipu to render the pages (it's fairly similar to runic/heol, but written from scratch for my needs).

I'm very happy with how it turned out :)

I added some screenshots to my inventory page for my various devices. I gave them each a 3 character name - ZEN, SRV, CRO, and PIX.

Later when I have time I'll try to add a photo of my EDC items.

I just found out that Lawnchair Launcher V2 exists in an alpha state. It's everything I've always wanted in a launcher (play store and fdroid only have V1).

I also found the Sesame app, which can be integrated into Lawnchair. I've never been so happy with my phone setup as I am right now.

I updated the inventory page on my wiki with some info about my various devices and EDC items.

Here are the stats I plan to use:

STR - Strength (physical activity)
DEX - Dexterity (skill building)
CON - Constitution (physical health)
INT - Intelligence (learning)
WIS - Wisdom (mental health)
CHA - Charisma (social growth)

I'll write an article up about the tracker once I have it set up.

I'm also thinking I'll set up a cron job to re-build my site, which will have some statistics output, at the end of each day and push it automatically back up to github.

Inspired by @cblgh's articles on personal trackers and human changelogs, I think I'm going to come up with my own tracking system that uses D&D stats to quantify how things are affecting me.

I will also be tracking my general mood every day. This way, I can use the data of how my stats were affected during a day, week, or month, and see if there is a correlation between the stats and my mood. I then want to adjust my behavior based on this information.

@cblgh I just read through your articles on personal trackers and human changelogs. I really enjoyed those, they were really insightful 👍

The whole minimal effort part of the tracker article was particularly helpful to me. I recently wrote about how I didn't want to track things anymore, because I was logging for the sake of logging.

I think I would like to find a simple way to track some things that I can actually use the data to better myself.

A lot to think about :)

Something I never expected:

I'm enjoying writing. Writing articles for my site, documenting things for my wiki. I just spent a bunch of time writing up my Inventory page (will publish soon).

It turns out writing causes me to lose track of how much time I'm spending on it. I never considered myself a writer, or someone who could write.

I wrote something a while back called "Write something" about this concept of writing even though I don't think I'm good at it.

I often struggle with what I should be spending my spare time doing. I dramatically shift in and out of mindsets regarding what I want to do.

It's difficult for me to pull off, but I want to try to only do things for the sake of the joy it brings me. I often fall back into trying to learn new skills, only for the purpose of earning money.

I want to create things and art. If any of that ever becomes a source of income, cool, if not, it was still worth my time.

Is this how merveilles is pronounced? I've been saying it in my head wrong for a long while.

Alright, I got a version of my site/wiki up that is good enough to share!

There is a lot more content I want to add, and a couple of placeholder pages, but you can check it out here:

Browsing this instance for just 2 days and already feeling urges to make art with math functions, compose synthwave music, design sleek minimalistic websites, speak Japanese, hack a mainframe, and wear black and white clothes ALL AT THE SAME TIME. Curse you, !

To more, and more profoundly, means to stop consciously giving a shit if what one writes is worth writing, or how profound it is. To not architect it, but to express a flow.

Merveilles is a community project aimed at the establishment of new ways of speaking, seeing and organizing information — A culture that seeks augmentation through the arts of engineering and design.

While I love my job, I really wish I could be spending my time working on my personal site.
