First stream went okay!
I got bogged down in a bug fix, which is what the stream is for basically, but there's stuff I meant to discuss for the recording that I never got around to. There'll be plenty of time for that in the future, though 😃
We recently finished Fahrenheit 451.
The story is about a world where people willfully stop reading books out of an addiction to pleasure, and are so engrossed by entertainment that they become ignorant and completely oblivious to the world outside.
There's a moment in the book in which the cities is nuked and the citizen spend their last minutes watching themselves getting bombed on live TV.
I know I'm probably projecting but, was it really about climate change the whole time?
Announcing #WireworldWednesday !
Wireworld is a virtual circuitboard system, like Conway's Game of Life but restricted to "wires" (see below).
This project takes me into unfamiliar territory. Eventually I'll dip into WebAssembly and implement Gosper's HashLife.

We lost an amazing person in the emulation / retro gaming space last night.
And done! That wasn't so bad.
Now that the basic structure is complete, I can focus on what I actually want to do on stream, and when I'll do it. 😊
As soon as I have something planned, I'll let folks know, with plenty of advanced notice!
It's totally unlike any other learning experience, because it's broadcast. I just have to get over it.
Deeeeeep breaths. 😤
Okay, it's time to do some setup stuff for my Twitch stream. Basic OBS things. But I'll try to keep an eye on chat in case someone drops by.
It's like I'm dipping back into the shallow end of a public pool, to learn how to float. I won't learn unless I do it. But it feels awkward in the short term. Oh well! 😅
It sucks to lose games, in more ways than one!
On June 23, 2021, the Internet Archive is hosting an online event about video game preservation! They booked Carmack. It'll be like a panel discussion

Disclaimer: Safari Reader seems to cut whole pages out of the story, but hopefully no one's using that to read it. 😬
Time travel! Feelings! Dialogue, monologue! Adjectives!
If these things interest you, I invite you to read my first, stilted attempt at writing a story in a while, "What All Went Down". Feedback welcome!
My computer says it's about five and a half pages, but I'm not sure I trust it.
Done with the ending's first draft! I'll sand it and polish it a little tonight, and then upload it. 😎👍
It's a little embarrassing, but I like its quirkiness. The people in my life probably have the same feeling about me, so, karma time 😅
#theWorkshop Just wrote 670 words tonight. My scifi dime novel is one conclusion away from, uh, peer review. 🖋️😊
I spent yesterday recovering from a really bad interaction with other people on the loud bird website. Considering the role hope and empathy play in my story, I take pride in knowing I didn't let that bitterness discourage me from continuing this project. Hell yeah.
Revel in the marvels of the universe. We are a collective of forward-thinking individuals who strive to better ourselves and our surroundings through constant creation. We express ourselves through music, art, games, and writing. We also put great value in play. A warm welcome to any like-minded people who feel these ideals resonate with them.
