Installed Syncthing and it worked RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. So I got that going for me. Now I just need to figure out how I can open gpg encrypted files on another computer.

My current setup devolved into a hellscape. ThinkPad has Regolith on it and if I could, I’d use nothing else. Dual booting to Windows aka dumpster fire, but runs Photoshop and Unity for work. Macbook isn’t strong enough for the game I’m working on, so it just sits there, obediently waiting for me to click the ‘Remind me Tomorrow’ button for updates. That is, until it decides it had enough, shows its true colors and locks me out until it has force fed me its new features I never asked for.

So it seems like my old macbook is one of those cases that are notoriously hard to get Linux to run on. MacOS still runs and feels annoyingly smooth. What to do with it?

Since @lrhodes just recently suggested that there should be a feature to hide inaccessible posts, and @gemlog reminded me today that folks might not even realize their names and toots might be hard for some people to read unless they are told, I guess it is my duty now to write another round of educational posts.
Hmm, this isn't really my area of expertise ... maybe I should just go find some old one and reboost?
Nah, let's do this.
In this thread, I'll list a couple suggestions for #Accessibility adjustments you can do to help out people who are #Blind, #VisuallyImpaired, or those who for other reasons use a #ScreenReader. Boosts appreciated!

Hi All,

It's time again to make a call for shows. I would be great if others
could contribute some shows rather than relying on the "old regulars" to
fill in the gaps.

Contribution is easy.

Open the recorder app on your smart phone and talk. Popular topics are
- who you are and how you got into tech
- what cool thing you have learned recently

Got to hackerpublicradio.org/calendar and upload the show.

I'd appreciate it if you could spread this message far and wide !

GPG-based, minimal password manager "sicuit" is now available on Arch Linux's AUR \o/

I'll be looking into copy-to-clipboard functionality as well as transitioning from mostly reliable beta to officially stable in the coming weeks.

@koloman Yeah, you made it! Wilkimmen im Fediverse! Mach dir nen avatar und eine i tro post dann stell ich dich vor! :)

I‘ve wasted so much time on raspberry pies and can‘t get a single freaking thing to work. I‘ve tried different projects, different setups, different OSes. Everytime I have to go off on some trial and error hunt for obscure errors researching for solutions for hours just to get the damn thing running.

Ideally, people would just borrow the books from the library. Alternatively, small, local bookshops should be the place to buy them.

Maybe I should just provide the titles and let people do their own search if they are interested?

Is there a good, extensive online book catalogue that isn't owned by Amazon?
If you have a reading list online, do you link the books anywhere?

I know little about the way peertube is growing but there seems to be a drastic difference in culture and content compared to Mastodon.
Or is this mainly a matter of choosing the right instance?

Show thread

I was just about to open a peer tube account, but the landing page is a federated feed of soft porn, gamerZ, right wing pop culture and corona conspiracy theorists bullying random people in the streets.

"The richest 5% (whose average income is $100,000 per year) capture no less than 46% of global income. In other words, half of all our economic activity – all the mines, all the factories, all the power stations, all the shipping, and all of the ecological impact that’s associated with these things – is done to make rich people richer."

@rostiger Like this! At least, this is how you can do it on desktop. Icons are really not intuitive sometimes.

I'm failing to write a direct mesage on Mastodon. Have I turned blind or stupid? Possibly both.
