Hey all—looks like the server has gone down twice in the past couple days because of the server memory maxing out. I’m not sure of the exact issue just yet, but as a temporary fix, I’m going to increase the server’s memory until I can see what’s happening.

To do so, I have to turn off the server for a few minutes. Sorry for the sudden announcement, but I want to make sure the instance is stable! I’ll keep you all updated as this progresses.

Also, apologies to those of you who were really passionate about getting local posting here. I hear you, and can definitely see the utility of that feature, but keeping things on the baseline for now should help me maintain our little space here without having to do too much extra work.

Also, the results have come in from the polls on local posting!

In both polls, a large majority of people have no opinion on local posting, far more than the other options. There's a significant number of people in favor of local posting with Hometown, however.

Because the number of people who are ambivalent far outweigh the number of people that have an opinion either way, I will keep us on the baseline version of Mastodon for now.

Hey all! I just upgraded our instance to Mastodon version 3.0.1, and I upgraded our instance styles to use our "Merveilles" styles as a theme! If you'd like to use the traditional Mastodon dark or light themes, feel free to go to your Preferences and change it to that!

In what's turning out to be one of the most extra things I've decided to do lately, I'm trying out having my phone screen be only in greyscale. It's taught me a lot about how so many design elements are solely using color to convey information and that shouldn't be a thing!
