🤔 I'm wondering if I should be logging the original publication date or the edition publication date for my reading list. I've read several books that came out pre-2000, but all the editions I've read have been published recently. Hm.

@stephen

my choice would be to log the edition publication date. new editions may contain updated information and it's still possible to look-up the original publication date, whereas the possibility of having read updated / added information in a newer edition is lost if you use the original publication date.

@glyph This is what I am leaning towards, too. I use an API to generate metadata related to the ISBN of the book I'm reading, and I wish the API included the original publication date as well as the edition, but it doesn't.
